SimAssist has a modular structure.
The frame application (see Figure 1) forms the basis of the software and provides a framework in which the individual modules and their plug-ins can be used and managed.
This means that the entire project – the creation, opening, saving or export of a given project, for example – is managed at frame application level.
As far as possible, however, data is worked with directly in the relevant plug-ins, separate from the frame application.
This has the advantage that plug-ins can be added and removed as desired, without impairing the functionality of the entire software.
Individual plug-ins can also be upgraded specifically, without the need to run time-consuming checking processes for the entire software.

Figure 1 - Frame Application
In addition to the frame application, the basic SimAssist module also comprises the most common plug-ins and can be individually and specifically adapted and configured to meet your requirements.
To this end, a series of modules – that is, collections of plug-ins – are available which can be used to extend the functionality of SimAssist to suit the relevant user.
For more information about the modules available, see the Features section in this chapter. The various licenses can be found in the Licenses section in the chapter on installation
